"He's a PTPer tonight, baby!"

Ah, the month of March. The temps are rising, the birds chirping...and workplace productivity throughout the US hits a slump because everyone is streaming March Madness at their desks. Don't act like you don't. #busted  A few years ago Fortune wrote that an estimated 664 million hours were spent watching March Madness (either on TV or streaming)...how insane is that? From the same source, it's noted that that's equivalent to over 75 thousand years, 100 times what it took to build the Empire State Building...and, most interesting (IMO) 4x the number of collective hours spent watching the oddly popular "Gangnam Style" video. Let that sink in. We sure love our hoops.

Even if you're not a huge fan of basketball, March Madness is still an exciting time to tune in and see the magic happen on the court. Every single year there's a crazy buzzer beater or two, a Cinderella team, a big upset - I'm getting pumped up just thinking about it! #somanyfeels So, do me a favor and fill out a bracket - even if you base each winning team on the color of their jersey.

I’ve personally always been a fan of the game, even playing competitively for many years, so I wanted to see what my fellow Spinutech team member’s thoughts were on the upcoming March Madness showdown.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A. ILL-INI; unfortunately, the Fighting Illini will [most likely] not be making the tournament this year (unless they happen to pull off some upsets in the B1G tourney). But hey - just like any Illinois sports fan will say, "there's always next year!" ... right cubbies? ;) #gocubsgo

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A. My fiance would like me to say Creighton, my sister would like me to say Iowa State, but I have to go with my HuggyBear and the WVU Mountaineers (#alumni). I just love that grumpy faced, stool-sittin' coach...oh, and I LOVE that he hugs his players before each game! #relationshipgoals

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A. In no particular order, I'd have to say: McDermmott, Huggins, and Coach K.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A. Ugh, I can't believe I'm about to name a Kansas Jayhawk, but you just cannot argue the depth of Frank Mason III. The dude is good (and seems like a good dude, too). I also really like watching Justin Patton from Creighton (freshman beast mode) and Lonzo Ball because he's just a...well, he's a baller. #respect

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A. THE UPSETS. Especially when it's a top - can't do anything wrong in the announcer's eyes - seed (I'm looking at you, Kansas...or Duke).

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A. No money won, but I do chalk it up as a win that I came in second in a bracket comp filled with all dudes. Yep.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
I follow two teams: the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Duke Blue Devils. I bleed black & gold so it pains me to say, no, my Hawkeyes will not be dancing this year. The Blue Devils, on the other hand, will be as they always do. (I'm curious how many people hate me now for being a Duke fan?!)

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
If I was a betting man, I'd like Villanova to repeat, but narrowly over Kansas.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
1. Mike Krzyzewski, Duke; 2. Tom Izzo, Michigan State; 3. Jay Wright, Villanova. If we're including women's coaches, then it's a toss-up between Krzyzewski and Geno Auriemma of the University of Connecticut...probably THE most under-respected figure in all of sports.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
That's a tough one! I'll go 1. Frank Mason III, Kansas Jayhawks; 2. Josh Hart, Villanova Wildcats; 3. Caleb Swanigan, Purdue Boilermakers. Honestly, I haven't watched enough college basketball this year to make this anything more than a mildly educated guess.

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
What's NOT to love? Cinderella's beating powerhouses...win or go home...huge stage...it's the greatest tournament in all of sports!

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
No, but I've been in the money several times...at most just to cover my buy-in. I feel like this is my year, though!

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
Iowa State! One can only hope.

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
If Iowa State doesn't make it, I'll be rooting for any other Big 12 team to make it to the championship.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
Fred Hoiberg...err, I mean Steve Prohm, Coach K, and Bill Self (that one hurts to type).

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Goerges Niang, Melvin Ejim...oh, you mean this year? Monte Morris, Nas Mitrou-Long, Matt Thomas!

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
The crazy upsets! Except when it happens to ISU. Dang you, UAB!

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
No, yet I continue to play every year.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
Hawks. They need to win the B1G tournament to get an invite. Luckily the B1G is horrible this year, so there is a chance.

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
Iowa State - I'm no hater; Wisconsin - my dad's alma mater and a team I grew up cheering for; Gonzaga/UCLA/Louisville/West Virginia - my likely final four, pending bracket alignment.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
Steve Alf...ha! Nope. Bob Huggins, Roy Williams, Tom Izzo

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Lonzo Ball, Lonzo Ball, Lonzo Ball

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
The first weekend. Best four consecutive days of sports on the calendar.

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
Sadly, no. Closest I ever came was 2008 and if I ever run into Derrick Rose, I will request the $500 his missed free throws cost me.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A. Big UNI Panther fan. They will likely not make it this year.

If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
If UNI or Iowa isn't in the dance, then I always root for the underdogs.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
 Izzo, Coach K, Ben Jacobson

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Frank Mason III, Josh Hart, Josh Jackson

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
Tons of great basketball, bracket pools, and upsets!

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
I did last year - maybe $180?

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
Iowa State. Yes, I think we will be in the 6-8 seed range.

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
Fortunately, I'm not a Hawkeye fan. (Sorry, I had to get that one in.)

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
Bill Self, Mike Krzyzewski, Bob Huggins

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Lonzo Ball (UCLA), Josh Jackson (Kansas), Monte Morris (I had to get an Iowa State guy in there)

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
The bracket, making my picks.

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
A couple of victories through the years...if you do enough brackets, you're bound to win at some point. :) Most recently here at Spinutech a few years back...I think I pocketed around $200 and bragging rights.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
Hawkeyes and Panthers. Probably not this year.

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
Whoever I have winning my bracket and also cheering for anyone playing against Duke.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
Roy Williams, Tom Izzo, Ben Jacobson

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Frank Mason III, Malik Monk, Lonzo Ball

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
The Cinderella teams knocking of the top teams and all the crazy buzzer beaters.

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
I won back to back years in high school. That seems like a really long time ago now. I'm due for a win.

Q. Who is the team you follow? Are they going to make the big dance?
A.
North Carolina: of course they will make it.

Q. If your team isn't making the tourney, who will you follow to the championship?
A.
If somehow UNC doesn't make the tourney, I'd probably follow Gonzaga since my cousin used to play there and they are so fun to watch. They are (as of right now) at the top spot in the rankings. I always pull for the University of Northern Iowa to make the tourney since they are my alma mater, but this year, in particular, looks like a long shot.

Q. IMO: Top 3 Coaches in the NCAA?
A.
Roy Williams (UNC), Tom Izzo (Michigan State) - who somehow defies the odds and make it to the tournament every single year, and Mark Few (Gonzaga)

Q. IMO: Top 3 Players in the NCAA?
A.
Frank Mason III (Kansas), Peter Jok (Iowa), and Melo Trimble (Maryland)

Q. What's your favorite part of March Madness?
A.
I really like to see teams of all calibers making it into the later rounds of the tourney and competing for a trophy. I usually choose at least 1-2 small schools to make it into the later rounds for some great upsets.

Q. Have you ever won the pool of money in a bracket competition? How much did you pocket?
A.
I have won my bracket and won another blind draw once. Are you secretly working for the IRS?! I can neither confirm nor deny any proceeds from my winnings. :)
