"It's not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving."

The Season of Giving

The holiday season is filled with good food and even better company. It's definitely a time of the year that we look forward to (despite the frigid cold temps.) With our annual holiday hooplah toy drive fully underway, it got us thinking about the pure joy a gift can bring, no matter the size or price. Whether materialistic or simply a caring gesture, holiday gifts are just one way we spread the love throughout the season. So often we ask for items on our wish list, and other times they are complete surprises, but either way they have the ability to put a smile on someones face.

We asked the Spinutech team what their favorite Christmas gifts of all times were, and they said...

Shania Twain's "Come On Over" Album

Shania Twain

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. Shania Twain's "Come On Over" Album

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. 7 I think.

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. My oldest brother, Alec. He was my Secret Santa that year. (Even though my parents most likely paid for it, so thank you to them too.)

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A. Well, for starters I was obsessed with Shania. (Picture a little 7 year old walking around the house singing "Man! I feel like a woman!") Plus, that was the first CD I ever owned.

Q. Was it a surprise or was it on your wish list?
A. I'm sure it was on my 4 page wish list that I had every year... But I fondly remember my mom making me take a bath, brush my teeth and put on my pajamas before opening it. (*insert eye roll*) Definitely worth the wait though. The next 3 hours were followed by a Shania-impersonation concert performed by me.

Q. Do you still own it?
A. No, I don't know where it's at :(

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. Gold tear-away pants

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. 12

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. Santa

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A. Air flow and the ability to remove my drawers without lifting a foot. (kidding) In those days, "tearaways" were still somewhat new and you weren't considered hip on the basketball court if you weren't rocking a pair during pregame. I wanted to be different so I asked Santa for the gold-colored pair as opposed to the popular black, white and silver versions. To this day they are the ugliest piece of clothing I have ever worn.

Q. Was it a surprise or was it on your wish list?
A. Top of my list!

Q. Do you still own it?
A. I wish. You'd have to ask my wonderful mother but I predict their journey led them to Goodwill then on to some other young gal/guy who liked hideous pants.

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. My "Pretty Crimp'n Curl" Cabbage Patch Doll

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. I think 5-ish

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. My parents

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A. It was literally the only thing I wanted for Christmas that year. I was obsessed (and a total brat about it). And in all honesty, I didn't receive it as a wrapped gift. We had opened presents and I was DEVASTATED that I didn't receive the doll. So I threw the tantrum of all tantrums and my parents actually left the family gathering, drove to Toys R Us, and bought the doll for me. (See, I told you I was a brat!). I actually remember feeling awful about the whole thing after they gave it to me. But I played with that doll to no-end. Hair that crimps and curls? Come on, what could possibly beat that?

Q. Do you still own it?
A. Heck no. I think it's probably in a landfill by now.

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. A promise ring from my husband (boyfriend at the time).

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. I was 20.

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. My husband, Matt (Now)

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A. I feel like this was the commitment that started our journey together. Who would have thought at that moment we would fast forward 11 years and be married for 8 years and have 2 beautiful children. We are blessed.

Q. Was it a surprise or was it on your wish list?
A. Total surprise.

Q. Do you still own it?
A. I do still own it. I am keeping it to pass down to our daughter someday. Maybe her wedding day ;)

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. Probably the best gift I would have received would have been my daughter who was born on the 21st, just a few days before Christmas.

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. I was 32 years old.

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. I guess my wife? :)

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A.
Lucy was my first child which was a lot of firsts for me. First diaper-change, first time babysitting, first time feeding. Really everything. I was very nervous that I wouldn’t know what to do. They don’t send you home with a manual! It was very special for a lot of reasons, but because she was my first child, I have a lot of specific memories around adjusting to a completely new lifestyle (and sleep schedule).

Q. Was it a surprise or was it on your wish list?
A. We did have about 9 months to plan on this, so I wouldn’t say it was a surprise, but I remember being a bit surprised when I found out she was coming.

Q. Do you still own it?
A. I do still own her! :) She is doing great.

Q. What is the best gift you've ever received?
A. The greatest gift I ever received (aside from my good health and loving family and friends and all that non material stuff) is.... A Nerf Firestorm!

Q. How old were you when you received it?
A. 11 Years old.

Q. Who was the gift from?
A. Santa.

Q. Why was it so special to you?
A. It was so special because a good friend of mine had the Nerf bow and arrow and this could fire 5 arrows in a matter of seconds with out reloading = Nerf war domination!.

Q. Was it a surprise or was it on your wish list?
A. Def on my wish list.

Q. Do you still own it?
A. No... I'd be a lot cooler if I did, though.
