Tips to Ensure Your Blog Post is Ready to Go

So you've spent hours, maybe even days creating a new blog post...now what? Before you go posting it for the world to see, follow the tips below to ensure you're getting the best bang for your buck.
Optimize your headline
In a previous post, "Are You Testing Your Headlines?", we mentioned how the sole purpose of a headline is to entice a user. You could have the best content in the world, but a below average headline could spell big trouble for potential pageviews.
Shorten your URL and track it's clicks
Use a URL shortener to minimize the length of your URL, make it "share" friendly, and track it's clicks.
Share it on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin
Don't assume people are going to stumble across your new blog post. Share it! Come up with a catchy status update (and not just the blog post's headline) and post it on Facebook or Twitter. Now come up with another headline, but tailor it to a more professional audience and post it on Linkedin. Rinse and repeat this process anywhere and everywhere you exist online.
Share it directly with your VIPs
Everybody's got VIPs, a set of customers or clients that love everything you're "selling". Send them an email with your shortened URL.
Share it in your email signature
Without being too obtrusive, add your link to the bottom of your email signature. It's a subtle way of spreading the word.
Share it in your newsletter
Not all potential viewers are going to see your new post the day it comes out. Some might not even see it until days, weeks, or months later.
Ask for feedback
Anywhere and everywhere you post your link, ask for feedback, post an engaging question...literally tell the user to interact with you.
