Job Description

Spinutech is looking for a talented and motivated Group Director of Data Science to lead our Data Science team. This individual will be responsible for the mentoring, vision, staffing, profitability and performance output of these teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic and inspirational leader, who fosters a collaborative culture with the agency team. You will need a deep understanding of how marketing and data work together to form a strategic vision, and be able to articulate and advise client marketing leaders on the most effective approaches and solutions.A successful candidate will not only be able to drive success for clients but should have a strong desire to lead and build other team members into data science experts and leaders. You will have a strong team surrounding you and need to be able to pull that team, and strategists, together and motivate them towards a singular vision. 


  • Lead, manage and be accountable to the performance goals and staffing needs of Spinutech’s Data Science team
  • Lead and mentor a data science team, aligning their skills and capabilities with the department's vision defined by senior leadership.
  • Assess the current proficiency of the data science team and identify skill gaps and areas for improvement.
  • Develop a comprehensive training and development plan to enhance the team's technical expertise and align their knowledge with the department's strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand their vision and translate it into actionable objectives for the data science team.
  • Mentor and grow new leaders
  • Monitor and report on department goals including allocation, utilization, profitability, and skill competency
  • Actively consult with larger clients and prospects to provide senior-level strategic guidance and solutions
  • Create and maintain scalable processes that support the team’s growth and evolution.
  • Work closely with the account team and other department directors to ensure consistency and scalability within our approach for clients of varying levels of budget and size
  • Work closely with team leads and strategists to drive professional growth, foster team collaboration, and inspire innovation among them and their account teams
  • Work closely with the business development team to identify, qualify and close projects by being an active contributor in the pitch and proposal process
  • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance and recommendations on leveraging data science capabilities to achieve business growth among existing and new clients.


  • A tenured marketing team leader with a deep understanding of how a digital marketing agency functions and how each tactic/channel is connected within overall marketing strategies
  • Must possess exceptional leadership skills, being able to move and inspire a cross-functional group, leading it in a unified direction and with a common vision
  • Must be a critical, creative, and strategic thinker
  • Must possess a deep understanding of data science methodologies, algorithms, and statistical modeling techniques. The ideal candidate would have have hands-on experience in applying machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining techniques to solve complex business problems.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, as well as expertise in data manipulation and analysis using tools like SQL or Hadoop, is a plus
  • Demonstrate a strong grasp of data visualization and communication to effectively convey actionable insights and recommendations to internal team and external clients.
  • Proven success driving new business opportunities for an agency with the ability to identify cross and up-sell opportunities by partnering with account and sales teams and articulating our value to prospective clients
  • Ability to manage and shift competing priorities and be pulled into challenging situations with little notice while maintaining composure and adding value
  • Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to source and use data to articulate a complex strategy to an audience of varying degrees of marketing knowledge and expertise
  • Experience cultivating high-performing teams while fostering an inclusive and high-trust environment; ability to rally team members towards a shared vision that they’re excited to support
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience managing an agency team with a strong desire to grow and foster new agency leaders.
  • Excels at building relationships with internal and external (client) stakeholders and negotiating ideas/strategies that are beneficial to all parties.
